  • BOCES CLASSES HOST PROM

    The St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Special Education Life Skills class from OFA and Northwest Technical Center hosted their fifth annual prom from 9:00 AM - 1:30 PM on April 30, 2012, with students from across the county in attendance. This year, classes included: Sue Waters', Sue Hart's, and Dave Smith's classes from Potsdam Central High School, Dawn Gregory's class from Canton Central High School, Katlyn Hirschey’s class from Gouverneur Central High School, and Velma Gushea's class from Northwest Tech, and Steve Kroeger's class from OFA. Two seniors were selected to be the king and queen of the prom. This year, the queen was Alisha Laffin from Potsdam Central, and Tyler Weir from Gouverneur Central.

  • ARBOR DAY 2012

    Each year, National Arbor Day is celebrated on the last Friday in April. This past Friday, April 27, 2012, the Canton Garden Club graciously donated a beautiful Flowering Crab tree to St. LWawrence-Lewis BOCES, to be planted in the front lawn at the new BOCES Educational Services Center at 40 W Main Street in Canton. “Each year we like to donate a tree in celebration of Arbor Day, and this year we thought BOCES would be a great choice because of their newly renovated building,” noted Garden Club member Pat Furgal.

  • FIRST NWT FEMALE TO PASS NYS BRIDGE WELDING TEST

    Shastin Crobar, a Northwest Tech Center Metalworking Technologies student, recently passed the NY State Bridge Welding & Unlimited Thickness Qualification Test. Shastin is the first female at NWT to successfully pass the Bridge test in the history of the program! She was also one of only two students who passed the test. Shastin is now qualified to weld on all NY State Bridges.Shastin's instructor is Mr. Jon Hughes.Congratulations Shastin!

  • ADULT ED PROGRAMS OPEN AT MASSENA PUBLIC LIBRARY

    The SLL BOCES Adult Education Program celebrated their grand opening of a new program called, "Gateway to Colleges and Careers Program," to be held at the Massena Public Library and the New York State Department of Labor. The program, funded by the Open Society Foundations, is one of only eight nationwide, and is the only one located in a rural community.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL TECH STUDENTS RAISE MONEY FOR LOCAL CHARITY

    Students at Southwest Technology Center made and sold wreaths, raising $740.00 to donate to "The Jules of Life Foundation" of St. Lawrence County, an organization that helps children who have pediatric cancer.

    VISIT FROM CHANNEL 7 NEWS

    On January 24th, John Friot, photojournalist from WWNY TV Channel 7 news, came to the BOCES Learning Resources Center, Norwood, to interview St. Lawrence-Lewis School Library System staff regarding the grant for the Digital History Project.

  • COMMUNITY CHOICE AWARD

    Seven students in the PreVocational Workshop and Lifeskills classes at Potsdam Central recently received a community choice award for a light display that they designed and placed at the Lisbon Beach in Lisbon, NY.

  • BUILDING TRADES

    The building trades class is progressing with this year’s modular home project. The seniors have completed the rough in of the plumbing and electrical portion of the project and are currently finishing various wiring exercises on wiring boards.
